may and june 2015 wanders

Hi folks,

I have come to terms with the fact that a weekly post for my walks is not sustainable, and very possibly boring. For this reason I think I will post a monthly recap of our travels and wanders by the month. I think its kind of a nice idea… Switzerland by the month – a sort of seasonal snapshot.

May and June were months of recuperation. One friend who recently saw me exclaimed “You’re almost normal!”. Indeed. I was always almost normal. But I am also feeling so much better and less disabled. I still can’t drive my car, but I can hike. None to soon either. Mom goes stir-crazy when she can’t make it to the mountains. To break me in gently Dennis, the kids and I have done a few moderate walks: A visit to Grosser Mythen (Kanton Schwyz) , A Lorze river valley walk, and last weekend a trip to Brunni in Engelberg (higher alpine stuff – hooray!). We didn’t take any pics of the river walk unfortunately. But the others we did. Now that we are in the swing of things there should be more coming for July… Until then, friends, enjoy! (P.S – new painting should be on here in a few weeks)…

Grosser Mythen at 1898m. There is a trail with winds all the way up to the top, and a little hut there to celebrate with a beer. Looks great but my fear of heights will never allow me to do it...

lake
Alpine lake at Brunni Hutte. There is a path along the lake for visitors to take thier shoes off and walk around on different surfaces (such as stones, pinecones, woodships, mud, etc. Mostly I found it painful and the mud felt like walking through porridge. But I can see the attraction if one’s feet are hot and tired from hiking up the mountain…
Mamma is so proud. Kids are starting to accept hiking as an inevitability. The promise of ice cream at the end helps.

I’m sure the kids like hiking with you. After all you are the BEST mom ever (well except for my own mother) πŸ˜ƒ plus ice cream. What more could they want?

Naturally, this is true. Your mom and I fully agree. Considering this I am surprised you kids even NEED ice cream to be persuaded into our bidding. The joy of our company should be enough. Sigh. Kids nowadays.
